Sean Edwards
FIA GT2 Driver and GT3 European Champion
His good performance at 16 years old in the BRDC Nationals didn’t go unnoticed, getting sponsorship for the 2003 BRDC series. He also never finished lower than 6th place out of 17 races. In 2005 Sean got pole position (youngest person ever at 18), fastest lap and the racing win in GT3 by over 55 seconds! This was at the Silverstone GP 2 hour British GT 2 event in August. In 2006 he won the first ever FIA GT3 championships. Look out for the name… Sean will continue to be even bigger news in 2007! Graham from CG-Lock got some much needed tuition form the ‘master’ Sean Edwards at Oulton Park at a recent track day.
Sean is a naturally gifted driver, starting his ‘experience’ at just 3 years old… on his fathers lap in a kart! At 11 he joined his first racing team and in 2000 qualified 2nd at the ‘Ayrton Senna’s track’ in Parma. It is said by Italian Teams that is you are quick there; you’ll be quick at any race track in the world. Sean qualified 2nd.
In 2004 Sean moved up to Formula Renault Series with Team JVA (John Village Automotive) getting a number of podiums in the Graduate Cup class and finishing most of the races in the top 15.More Information
