Usage Instructions
Read and understand the safety information before using the CG-Lock. Never adjust the CG-Lock in a moving vehicle. The car should be stationary and gear in neutral.
Familiarise yourself with the CG-Lock functions before using it.
Buckle the seat belt as usual. If the belt is too short to reach the buckle, simply rotate the lever down while buckling. Rotating the lever down lets the belt run freely through the tongue.
The next step depends on how you want to use the CG-Lock.
For performance driving, or 4 x 4 off-roading
Push your hips all the way back against the back of the seat. Push hard. Adjust the seat if necessary to maintain proper spacing from the steering wheel, pedals and other controls.
Place a finger of one hand on the CG-Lock SLIDE to manually confirm it is in the full forward “engaged” position and to hold it in place as you grasp the shoulder belt just above the CG-Lock and pull away from the CG-Lock parallel to the lap belt to tighten. Pull the shoulder belt hard as you push your hips pack into the seat. The harder you pull, the tighter your lap belt will be. The lap belt will stay tight until you release it.
If the lap belt becomes too tight, PULL OVER AND PARK SAFELY, then simply rotate the lever down while lifting the hip closest to the CG-Lock and the belt will loosen. REMEMBER TO TIGHTEN THE LAP BELT AGAIN (REMOVE THE SLACK) OR TO REMOVE THE SLIDE BEFORE STARTING TO DRIVE AGAIN.
To exit the vehicle, simply release the seat belt tongue in the usual way and assist the seat belt retractor in rewinding the belt. The weight of the CG-Lock may impede the seat belt retractor. Failure to rewind the belt fully could result in the CG-Lock and tongue being caught in the vehicle door when it is closed.
If you will be driving/riding for an hour or more
Follow the instructions provided above, except do not pull the shoulder belt as tightly – just snug enough that you will not slide forward in the seat. This holds your back gently against the lumbar support of the seat and reduces the potential for lower back muscle fatigue.
If the lap belt becomes too tight, PULL OVER AND PARK SAFELY, then simply rotate the lever down temporarily while lifting the hip closest to the CG-Lock, and the belt will loosen. REMEMBER TO TIGHTEN THE LAP BELT AGAIN (REMOVE THE SLACK) OR TO REMOVE THE SLIDE BEFORE STARTING TO DRIVE AGAIN.
Routine inspection
One week after initial installation, check and tighten the SCREWS.
Prior to each use, the user is responsible for checking the security of the CG-Lock installation and examining the seat belt for wear or other concerns. In the event that a loose fit or wear is seen, or suspected, discontinue use of the CG-Lock until the problem is corrected.
In the event that a CG-Lock is in use in a vehicle at the time of an accident or impact, discontinue use of the CG-Lock at once. The CG-Lock should be replaced.
