"After purchasing my CG-lock at the AutoSport show 3 years ago, I have really enjoyed the benefit the system brings to my driving experience. Although I don’t do trackdays, I enjoy a spirited road drive, often using a combination of A and B roads to Goodwood. These roads are winding, bumpy and undulating, where you really notice the benefits. It helps with the feedback the vehicle can bring to the driver making you really connect with what the car is doing.
Although my use is for a spirited drive, my second CG-lock is required for a different purpose – SAFETY. Having seen the website, I saw that the CG-lock has many other uses that hadn’t occurred to me. Occasionally I drive my nephew who is young enough to warrant the use of a child seat. I would like to ensure his safety by better securing his child seat for his comfort and my peace of mind.
The final thing I would like to add is to do with complimenting its versatile design where, once first fitted, which is a doddle anyway with a couple of screws and the hex key to go with it, the system is not enforced on you to use. You can simply slide off the clamping bar, by hand, with no tools required, and you have your regular seat belt system again. This is especially handy for the short trips to the shop where I don’t particularly want to use it or remove it. "

"I bought two of these, primarily for my Nissan Skyline. However, when I read the leaflet I realised that they might well help my usual problem - backache. I drive a lot for work, so first off I fitted one of them to my day to day car.
I havent felt so good driving in ages - I drove a 400 mile round trip and felt absolutely fine at each end without even needing to stretch. I was so impressed i fitted the other to my girlfriends’ car and she is also a complete convert to both comfort and handling improvements.
Two more then got ordered for the Skyline, and the feel of the car has been improved dramatically. Both driver and passenger are now completely secured in the seats, and it just feels so much better.
So, from an initial buy to help me drive the Skyline, they’re now fitted to:
- A Nissan Almera 1.5 S for posture/health use
- A Mazda 3 Sport for posture/health use
- A Nissan Skyline GTS-T (slightly modified with induction and exhaust systems) for posture/health and performance use.
Its a brilliant gadget and one I wish I’d found years ago."

"I have never been a fan of competition 4-point harnesses in road cars, as they are simply too inconvenient to be practical as an everyday method of securing yourself in the car. I’ve got bored too many times waiting for friends in Caterhams and other such harness-equiped cars, to get their stuff together so that we can simply drive away from where we’d been! So when I read about the CG-Lock I simply had to try it.
The results are truely remarkable! When pulled tight, I am completely secure in the drivers seat, yet without having any time consuming faffing about with complex harnesses - plus I can still lean forward to reach parts of the dash that other belts simply don’t allow. With my hips and lower body secure, I am in far better control of the vehicle than if I was just using the normal seatbelt. I have one in each of my cars. My Renaultsport Spider has deep bucket seats and the simple addition of the CG-Lock secures me so totally, that there is absolutely no reason for me to buy and fit expensive harnesses - even when on trackdays or at the Nurburgring. And the fact that it can be transferred from one car to another in 2 minutes made my purchase of a CG-Lock a no-brainer for me! Top stuff chaps."

"Michelle and I did a ton of miles in the Exige last week - Cambridge to Folkestone, Calais to Bruges, Bruges to Nurburg, a track evening at the GP circuit, a track day at the Nordschleife, and then the reverse journey home. A lot of time in not the world’s most comfortable cabin. Installing CG-Locks massively reduced lower back pain from long hours in the bucket seats - highly recommended for sports cars, for both driver and passenger. Our aftersales contacts with CG-Lock have also been met with genuinely excellent customer service."

"I don’t even know how i found out about CG-lock but ive been using (and promoting) your product for about 7 years now… So far, i’ve used it on three consecutive cars, and getting the CG-lock has become something to-do before even driving a new vehicle from the dealers.. insurance?.. check!.. CG-lock?.. check!
It seems such a small thing.. even insignificant. But the effect, as they say, is great! I need to feel completely and utterly glued to the car for maximum confidence and control during fast B-road blats and trackday events, and thats exactly what CG-lock gives me. Without even feeling the need for harnesses, which, lets admit it, are slightly impractical if you want to use the care even moderately on a day-to-day basis. I do use a little bit of extra fixing by sliding the seat rearward, adjusting the CG-lock, then “snapping” the belt in its “emergency” position by yanking the top of it, then while keeping the tension in the belt, sliding the seat to the right driving position, and then redistribute the additional tension by opening the CG-lock again briefly…
Cars with CG-lock so far: all have seen their fair share of fast road and track action:
- Current Evo IX
- Previous Opel Speedster 2.2 (seen here on my favourite track: Spa-Francorchamps)
- Previous VW Lupo GTi
Cheers"

"I use my CG-Lock currently in my Nissan 350Z primarily for performance use (road and occasional track days). I have also had previous problems with low back pain, so the lock helps to keep my bum where it should be as an added bonus! I already have a passenger one in the 350Z but I want a 3rd one for the driver’s side of my Audi S3."

"I use my CG-lock for track and road use. Simple and effective. For such a simple and cheap upgrade it confers massive benefits. As the driver you feel far more planted and at one with the car, which increases the pure thrill of driving a Lotus. It gives you the ability to spend more time concentrating on pedal work rather than on trying to stay put in the seat! It certainly added to the enjoyment factor while spending a week driving on the Isle of Man. Thanks."

"Have been using the CG-Lock for the past 2 days now and it’s bloody brilliant! Just come home off a 12 hour night shift and my hour drive home used to be very slouchy, but this morning it felt great being pinned to the seat. "Bought a CG Lock for my Lotus Elise after using one on a track day. What a difference, wow. This is a ‘must-buy’ for anyone that doesn’t want the inconvenience of a full harness but would like to feel ‘planted’ in their car. It is that good, I bought another for my Lotus Carlton, singularly the best modification I’ve ever bought!"

"It was used at the Ring last week in a Mk5 Golf R32 with bucket recaros for both driver and passenger, who both reported feeling very secure. The track was very wet for a good part of the long weekend and the CGLock meant that it was easier to feel the car responding to the changes in track surface without the otherwise inevitable bracing of hands knees and elbows against the wheel and interior fittings on the corners.
The intention is to fit the two new GC locks to a Mk3 R32 conversion with 300bhp. This is intended for fast road use.
Two more will be used for a Mazda 2 for a back pain sufferer to promote better posture and in a Daihatsu mini van or additional driver safety.
Keep up the good work!"

"I accidentally found out about the CG-Lock at a high performance driving event at a nearby racetrack. My driving skills were improving each day, but I felt helpless in negotiating some tight turns as my body would bounce around from one side of my seat to the other. All my energy was being wasted on holding the steering wheel tight enough to keep my hips in the seat, instead of concentrating on the driving. When one of the instructors offered the CG-Lock for me to try, everything changed. By keeping my hips “glued” to the seat I quickly felt the weight transfer of the car, and thus my driving skills improved greatly.
When I got home I checked out the website and started to use the device in my daily driving. It is comfortable, and in fact helps me keep good posture on longer drives.
When my wife recently purchased a vehicle with a third row, in order to be able to carpool with fellow mothers of young children, I was upset by the fact that the third row did not have LATCH fitting. Despite my best attempts I could not get the car seat in as tightly as it is with a LATCH system. I felt like my kids would start bouncing around the car if I took any turn faster than 10mph. That’s when the CG-Lock videos came to mind. I used the lock to place my child’s car seat in that 3rd row. What a difference!!! The seat is tight and secure. When my kids graduate to a booster seat, they will always use the device.
Being a Surgeon I’m always concerned about the science and the safety of any new device (my wife has not been allowed to drive a car without side curtain airbags, because of the dramatic reduction in head injuries associated). I reviewed some of the crash test data from the makers of CGLock. From my perspective this device can significantly decrease the risks of car accidents to any child who is in a booster, and probably to any adult who does not drive with a 5 point harness. I think this is an essential safety device that will help people drive better and when in accidents, will save many lives.
I am ordering more CG-Locks for both my cars and will bring them with us when we travel with our children."

"I recently lost the slide bar from my CG lock - my own fault! I contacted you to ask if you made replacement bars, expecting the answer would be “no”. The answer was “no”, but amazingly you offered to replace the whole unit free of charge. I expected nothing but got it all. That’s customer service.
I shall be buying two others now for my passenger and child seat in the back."

"I wanted to add a testimonial after recently experiencing just how awesome this product is. I have spent more than I care to remember on trying to extract more performance from my much loved Corrado VR6, the endless pursuit of pace that a lot of us are familiar with, but nothing has beaten my recent purchase of a CG lock for sheer “bang for buck”. It has kept me comfortable for a recent 1000 mile road trip to Germany, and also kept me pushing hard but feeling safe around the ‘Ring when I got there. Then 2 weeks later for a bit more peace of mind it kept me in my seat at Santa Pod.
It is so simple yet so effective that I now regard it as important as my helmet when it comes to track use. I’ll also be fitting one to the girlfriends car just in case as, you don’t need to have an incident to realise that it’s safer then a standard belt, better safe than sorry.
So for the price of a shiny gearknob or oil cap in future all my cars will be getting one of these first.
Thanks for the great product, can’t wait to see what else the CG lock team might have in mind."

"Having used a CG Lock for some months in my own road car, I have known of its abilities to hold you comfortably in place whilst cornering etc. on twisty country roads within national speed limits. As it says in the information & advertising, it is “Occupant Stability Equipment” when used correctly, in conjunction with the primary restraint system….ie the seat belt.
As someone who has suffered from a bad back in the past (and is a manual Handling instructor) I am well aware how easy it is to “put your back out” getting in & out of cars, I also find the device helps with posture in the car in that it helps keep your back straight, because it’s not fighting with your hips to support/oppose the vehicle movement.
“Having now used it as an “on-track Instructor” from the passenger seat, I can see even more benefits, in that it holds you firmly in place when you don’t have a steering wheel to hang on to.
It stops your body sliding around in the seat (especially when it’s leather!) and you don’t have to brace yourself for corners, using your knees on the centre console or passenger door.
Heavy stops are also easier as you don’t have to brace your feet on the floor to stop yourself sliding down in the seat.
Overall, a very useful addition to the standard equipment, in these circumstances.
I would thoroughly recommend it"

"As I’m already a long term user of CG-Locks in my modified Subaru Impreza WRX Sportwagon I decided to treat my new pride and joy, a Jaguar S-Type to the same. Having slippery leather seats I found it often difficult, especially during those first test drives, to stop myself from sliding around the seat when cornering and under braking. Every test drive I’d find myself slipping down the seat requiring readjustment of my driving position frequently during a run until I borrowed both of the CG-locks from my Subaru and installed them very quickly and easily for my last test drive. Bingo!!
As soon as I bought the car I ordered a pair of CG-Locks, installed them, and never looked back. Suffice it to say every journey now is a pleasure and being safely and securely strapped in by these brilliant devices means I can just enjoy the drive. By the way, I still have them fitted I the Subaru for everyday use and they genuinely come into their own when I’m enjoying a spirited drive. Having CG-Locks as a permanent fit is much better than fitting and removing my race harnesses every time I fancy a blast. Pull your seatbelt nice and tight across your lap and your bottom half doesn’t budge an inch. Equally, having suffered from a bad back the majority of my life I’ve found CG-Locks to be excellent at promoting a proper upright driving position which works wonders for my spine. Suffice it to say a bad back after a long journey is no longer a problem.
‘Highly Recommended’. Cheers CG-Lock!!"

"Its now been 18 months since I started using CG-Lock in my Ford Mondeo Estate. Since then all the seatbelts have been fitted with one, so the benefits I have been enjoying are also enjoyed by the rest of the family including my 9 year old son.
Amongst the main benefits of using one of these little devices is the after-sales service. One of my CG-Locks broke (locking lever came away) a short time ago, and seeing as it was well over a year since I purchased it, I *thought* it was no longer under warranty. Well, imagine my surprise when an email from customer support landed in my inbox not only apologising for the broken unit, but a replacement would be sent to me free of charge!! No argument, No fuss!! No quibble!! Their policy is simple: DELIGHT CUSTOMERS. Well, I am more than delighted. The after-sales support is quite simply stunning and professional.
Several days later, my replacement CG-Lock arrived in the post as promised and was promptly fitted in the car. THANK YOU CG-Lock. A superb company to deal with. A superb product to use."

"I wish to express my enthusiasm for what I consider to be a must in any vehicle.
I have to admit that I was a little sceptical initially as I thought that, as I do not suffer from back pain and do not drive any great length, the CG Lock would be of no benefit to me. However, I can genuinely say that I have noticed an improvement in my own driving, which I can only attribute to the lock. I also feel much safer, to the extent that I am no longer entirely comfortable in cars that do not have the device fitted and often find myself pulling at the seatbelt in order to make it feel more secure. The safety figures are both frightening and astounding and I cannot believe that anyone would consider driving a vehicle without a CG Lock.
I would be happy to recommend the CG Lock to anybody."

"The CG-Lock was supplied with detailed instructions and easy to install. Whilst it does not provide the same support as a full racing harness, it comes very close, providing the driver with a lot more support and feedback than a standard seatbelt, even in a relatively low powered car.
It represents fantastic value and is absolutely essential for any track day enthusiast who has a car without a race harness and bucket seats fitted."

Fitting onto vehicle
I was a little confused by the instructions as first, however once I was orientated I was surprised at how quickly and easy it was to fit.
I had concerns that the fitting screws might a, not be very secure, b, might work loose easily and c, damage the seat belt buckle. despite these concerns I have found the fittings extremely secure, I have only had to tighten the screws quarter of a turn on one occasion and there has been not the slightest damage to the belt buckle
Adjusting to the wearer
Extremely easy to adjust. On the first occasion my wife borrowed my car with the CG lock fitted only a quick explanation of no longer than 10 seconds was needed to be given.
I wonder whether the ‘release lever’ might be chunkier or even come in a bold colour to assist the unfamiliar user.
Styling
The device looks purposeful yet discreet. I have had a couple of passengers refer to it as ‘looking cool’. I have been surprised at how many people do not have any idea what it is. It must be one of motorings best kept secrets!
I think the device looks great and would look at home in an Aston as much as an Austin. I do think however there might be a market for different colourways. I might have been tempted to pay an extra 10-20% for a CG lock in a colour that was similar to my car’s body work.
Comfort
The device is as comfortable as the wearer wants it to be. I would say that when enthusiastically driving on the bendy stuff it is best worn extremely tightly and that does generate a bit of pressure on the bladder.
Function
After I had installed the device I drove on a few ‘unchallenging ‘A’ roads and initially wondered what all the fuss was about. However, when I tested the device on some very challenging ‘B’ road and on a track event I was extremely impressed with the following benefits:
- Heightened sense of cars road holding. I was much better able to sense the car going into oversteer.
- Greater ability to control the pedals effectively
After only a few hundred miles with the CG lock the greater intimacy with the car allowed me to find the cars limits, rather than my own. In practical terms it meant that tight bends I originally drove around at 45-50mph cautiously I was able to drive around confidently at 55-60mph (and way more than that on a track).
Overview
The CG lock is stylish, discreet, easy to install and easy to operate. It would be desirable, however, to have it in ‘less discreet’ colourways for the more flamboyant sportsdriver. The effect it has on performance driving is quite remarkable. According to my ‘research’ over several months of driving on some of the trickiest roads in the country I would suggest than I found an increase in performance of between 10 and 20% on tightly winding roads.
The CG Lock has transformed my ideas about mildly tuning cars. Forget spending a fortune on diff locks, porting, cams and chipping (and car insurance) when a CG lock and some nice sticky Toyo or Yokohama tyres might make just as quick a car cross country.

"I use my VX220 Turbo (Modified to 303BHP) on track and road. I don’t want to install harness so I have decided to use a CG lock which offers the best of both worlds i.e. I get the security of a harness but when I am on the road I can lean forward therefore pulling out of angled junctions is a lot easier. Also I have just installed some carbon fibre seats and the CG lock will hold me securely in place around the waist so I won’t slide forward."

"I have CG locks fitted to my Lotus Elise which is used for both normal driving and track days. The Lotus has leather bucket seats which tend to allow you to slip down into them when driving. Full harness belts are fitted for track days but are not suitable for day to day use as they limit your maneuverability and restrict you from leaning forward e.g. to see at junctions. With the normal lap/diagonal belts I find myself slumping down in the seat.
The CG Locks are really good - they keep you seated correctly but allow upper body movement making for safer driving - especially if some spirited driving is undertaken! In fact the CG Locks are so good, and easier to use, that I have used them in preference on some track days! Congratulations on a really good product."

"I think the CG-Lock is fantastic for general road use and really comes into its own for anyone who enjoys track days but doesn’t want the expense or inconvenience of fitting a full harness. I fitted it before I went to the ring in April and the difference was huge, enough to get the lap time down to 9 minutes."
Matt Phillips, BMW Z3 M Coupe driver, December 2008
"The CG-Lock took a little getting used to but after a couple of days I had it mastered and have to say that the product is fantastic. I can now drive with peace of mind that I am doing the best I can in terms of my back and also in terms of safety. That’s not to mention the improved feel it gives you when driving on challenging roads. It makes the connection between driver and car feel more solid and stops you from gripping the steering wheel to hold on, instead I can now use the steering wheel as intended and steer my car without any movement across the seat.
I would recommend this product to anyone who has concerns about safety, back problems or just wants to feel more at one with their vehicle. So that covers just about everyone who owns a car."

"Just a short note to say how very pleased I am with my CG-Lock, I used to have Recaro seats in my Seat Leon Cupra R and when I changed to a newer one I lost them and also lost the support they give when….. ahem “goin for it”. I also found that the lack of support agravated my back condition (ankylosing spondilitis).
I had read about CG-Lock on the web and seen it in my local motorsport shop but for a long time thought, like maybe a lot of people, snake oil, how can just locking my seat belt help with my driving? Well I had a bit of xmas money left over last year and after spending most on “go faster” bits I had enough left for a “toy”, so i bought one!
The fitting was simplicity itself and after a couple of days, tighening before i drove off became second nature. Now about how it performed, nothing short of amazing!
The 250 mile jouney to my parents previously a painful affair became a breeze with no stiff achey back that evening and next day and spirited driving is just so much more fun, no sliding around or bracing with steering wheel you can just drive as hard as you dare (limits permiting of course)! My wife who scoffed when I bought it, now wants one too and she has Recaro Pole Position seats in her Clio Trophy, I am convinced it will work even better for her! Let me tell you from my experience this is NO TOY, it has helped keep me pain free after long journeys, improved my driving and most of all made driving much much more fun!
What more could you ask for and it has lasted longer than the go faster bits!!! Thank you."

“I am an extremely amateur DIYer but I managed to install it in just a few minutes. In order to test it I proceeded to a pair of nearby roundabouts which feature a straight in between them which is just long enough to accelerate to a scary speed. I carried out my very scientific experiment by driving around them quickly, first without the CG lock tightened, and then a few more times with it tightened. The difference was noticeable immediately. I was remaining secure in my seat and able to keep the car on whichever line I chose. I have driven on some challenging and unfamiliar country roads since then and always ‘tightened up’ just before the driving becomes interesting. It feels as though I have spent hundreds of pounds on my cars suspension and tyres, turn-in feels quicker and I have more confidence to ‘press-on’. Brilliant.”

“Sometimes you look at something and wonder how it can work, a bag full of bits that can be so effectual, don’t be mislead. Easily installed in minutes, the lock is one of those things you wonder how you have done without for so long. We installed two CG locks for the Passenger Laps at Castle Combe, and every one of the passengers was securely held in place for their time in the car. No movement even when they were not able to reach the footwell / bulkhead.
As a driver, its the closest thing to a full harness without the restrictions. Lap after lap I did not move and felt more attached to the car than ever.
Further two days at Spa had me more convinced than ever that these trick little locks are a must for road and especially track.
Many thanks to CG Lock, it is something I ensure is always fitted to whatever I am driving….”

“After purchasing a CG Lock and fitting it to my Vauxhall Vectra Sri, I was sceptical that such an easy device to fit could actually help me find some relief from the Lower Back Pain I have endured for years. The fact that this little device both secures me into my seat and keeps me in the correct posture position has given me in less than two weeks a 50% improvement from the pain I suffered after driving. It has also taught me to sit in a correct position when out of the car. If you have not yet purchased a CG Lock I certainly recommend you do.”

“CG Lock, a funny bit of metal or the difference between a quick driver and a competitive one? I read the blurb on the CG Lock and I nodded along agreeing in principle with what it was saying, but still somewhat skeptical. I placed the order though the web site which messed up due to my card issuer refusing to release my funds… I did have the the cash honest. So the next day I was able to call a nice chap at CG who took my details manually like the old days and my lock was dispatched.
A day or so later it arrived, I was prepping my car for a trip to the Nordschleife in Germany so with the many new parts I was treating my car to the CG Lock was fitted. I think it took all of 10 minutes being as careful as possible, in hindsight It could have been done in 4 minutes. At that point a quick test did in fact reveal this thing could lock you in to your seat as hard as you can pull on the belt!
The trip over to Germany, about six hundred miles or so was no different seatbelt-wise than usual, as you can set the CG Lock to a comfortable grip and continue on as normal.
Once in the car park of the track as the nerves of your immanent lap creep in, it is in fact of great comfort to give a firm tug on your seat belt which pulls your hips and butt firmly back into the seat. I will have to skip the part about what is was like on the first lap as I had bigger things on my mind. Suffice it to say, it did a fantastic job holding me firm in an invisible way! On the next 19 laps I came to realise I was able to corner under the kind of loads that only the 6 point harness guys could do. My passenger sans CG Lock will testify to this with palms showing the fine detail of my seats imprinted in them.
At the end of my trip I came to the idea that there must be a Lap Time that can’t be crossed without proper 5/6 point harness, things get dangerous at around the 10 minute mark. By this I mean under heavy corner loads it can’t be safe to be using your own strength to hold your body in the seat and at the same time doing 120mph over a left hand crest. So if you want to stand any chance of cracking 9 mins you really do need proper harnesses or do you!?”

“I wanted to let you know how pleased I am with the effects of the CG-Lock which I bought from your company recently.
I’ve been suffering from chronic lower back pain for many years and recently decided to try & address the problem once & for all. Having previously tried the traditional medical route to no avail, in the spirit of ‘self-help’ I decided on a course of treatment from a chiropractor. He explained in some depth how poor posture could adversely affect the muscles & nerves in the lumbar region, resulting in increased pain & that I should make every effort to maintain ‘correct’ posture at all times. The CG-Lock was mentioned as a device that could help to promote this correct posture whilst driving.
My job entails a fair bit of driving and I was keen to try anything which would help to alleviate the awful pains I suffered after even a short drive. Also, as an advanced driver, who thoroughly enjoys the process (even in my little Yaris!), I was delighted to read that the CG-Lock could help me to enjoy my driving even more.
Well, after only a week I am pleased to report that I feel much better than I used to after being behind the wheel for any length of time. I don’t have that awful stiffness in my lower back when get out of the car, and I don’t feel the need to ‘shift’ constantly in an effort to find a comfortable position. I also noticed that because the device made me ‘sit up’ more, I had to adjust the rear-view mirror - I was literally an inch taller in the car!
I must admit that initially I was less concerned with the increased safety afforded by the CG-Lock than I was with the ‘posture’ benefits. But after having read the reports on your web-site concerning motor accident data I am very glad that I now have this device fitted to my car. So glad in fact that I have bought another one for the passenger seat.
The fact that I feel safe & much more comfortable in my car is worth much more than the cost of this ingenious device. I would happily recommend the CG-Lock to any driver.”

“I bought my CG Lock recently and have enjoyed the extra control that it gives me. Its a great little device that makes driving a more enjoyable experience, and even with sports seats it adds value by keeping me secure in my seat, allowing me to focus more on driving and less on bracing myself. Without changing my seats and getting harnesses, this is the next best thing (& a lot more cost effective !). Thx for a great product.”

“Hope your excellent CG-Locks continue to fly off the shelves: the Lock in my M5 worked very well under significant load at the ‘Ring recently! It’s also clear the CG Lock maintains good posture by preventing slumping in the seat which can only reduce back ache and related problems.
I attach a pic of a somewhat faster car I drove at Spa two weeks ago [shown above].”

“Hello all, just to let you know how good your product really is. I have only had one fitted for a few days now and I can keep my posture in the seat better instead of slouching. I feel safer with it fitted as I am kept in the seat far better than just the seat belt alone, especially if I have to brake hard. Cornering is much more fun now, being kept in the seat not sliding. I’ll have to put my bucket seats back in and get on a track now.”

“I’m quite slim and the seats in the BMW are quite large. The CG-Lock helps me from sliding around, thereby offering a more comfortable and controlled drive.”

“I use my Lotus Elan +2 on the road, doing frequent Retro Runs/Classic Car events. The CG-Lock is on a par with the 3-point harness I used in my previous car, an original Lotus 7 Series 2. Now need a CG for the wife!”
