Top Fleet Company Shows CG-Lock Reduces Back Ache (November 2010)

ArvalThe CG-Lock has undergone quite a few ‘trials’ amongst healthcare professionals and keen customers that want to help to formally evaluate the device for reducing back pain when driving or being a passenger. The latest trial was conducted by Arval, the leading fleet lease company and the results were consistent with previos findings… overwhelmingly positive results with over 70% improvement rate (compared with about 5% found from other devices such as seat wedges and beads).

"Improving safety and productivity has never been so important to businesses” says MD Graham Cox, “and if you extrapolate the figures to 100, 500 or 1,000 drivers or more, the device pays for itself 10 times over within 1 year."

The device has already won critical acclaim from the road safety charity BRAKE and is being assessed by more blue chip companies to provide improvements in productivity as well as reduced medical claims on accidents.

"once the insurance companies see this data and make their calculations, they will probably be made mandatory, as with airbags"

commented Ron Cox, the CG-Lock Chairman.

Big Fleet Company Evaluating CG-Lock to Reduce Back Pain and increase Seatbelt Safety (July 2010)

ArvalArval the biggest fleet and fuel management company in Europe, is formally assessing the CG-Lock with its employees to evaluate the reduced back ache and safety claims. Recently winning the Fleet Safety Award, Arval are looking to further improve the safety of their staff as they realise that across the whole business, as with other organisations with fleet drivers, it is employees on the road that are exposed to the highest levels of risk of accidents and also suffer from the consequences of spending hours in their vehicles - back pain.

CG-Lock to be Standard In All New Dimora Natalia SLS Cars (July 2009)

DiMoraAlfred DiMora, founder of DiMora Motorcar says: "Most people just assume that their standard seatbelts are adequate" continued DiMora. "The Lap Belt Cinch engineers delved deeper into how a better seatbelt could improve vehicle control for the driver and comfort and safety for everybody in the car. The insights they gained led them to invent the CG-Lock. We are pleased to be the first OEM to integrate many of these systems into the Natalia SLS 2."

Autoevolution.com - ‘it’s brilliant’… (July 2007)

Autoevolution.com logo"If you like the new Porsche 911 GT3, and you think your 4-door saloon deserves more, you can improve it with a CG-lock.

What is it? It isn’t a brand new engine, it’s not the name of that outrageous tuning kit you’ve always wanted, it isn’t a diesel to petrol conversion kit… it is a device that straps you in your seat and makes you think you’re Lewis Hamilton… But without Nicole, or any pussycat doll, without the money and without the car.

What this device does is to tighten the seat belts for your convenience. Say you want to go for a Sunday thrash on a B-road in your state car. You belt up, apply the CG-lock to your seatbelt, at maximum grip, so you don’t feel your bones anymore, and you go out and start cornering at speeds you would normally consider safe.

The thing is that this contraption bolts you in your chair and your body doesn’t move around anymore as much as it would without it. The CG-lock actually makes your normal seat feel like a Recaro 6 point harness.

It’s brilliant. On the upside, the shoulder harness stays loose so you can easily reach the controls of the car when you need to.

It is said that the CG-lock provides you with 80% of the holding power of a full racing harness. It is applicable on any type of car, on any type of seatbelt, so it doesn’t matter if you have an 1980 Renault 1300 or a 2008 Mercedes T-model. You’ll feel like you’re in a Ferrari F40."

EVO, the top EU car magazine rated the CG-Lock as an ‘essential’ in the July issue (May 2009)

EVO Magazine Logo"attach one to your seatbelt and you can lock the belt across your lap tightly in place, thus preventing you from sliding around"

TheIgnitionPoint.co.uk ‘massively impressed’ with the CG-Lock

The Ignition Point logo“The CG-Lock. What is that thing? What does it do exactly? I’d seen this piece of kit being demonstrated at a few motor shows in the past such as the MPH/Top Gear Live show and Autosport International, but I’d never had enough time to stop and take in the information about it. So when CG-Lock themselves sent me one, I was ready to have a good look at it.

First impressions. A small packet containing some bits of random-looking metal arrived, along with some information and assembly notes on the CG-Lock. I’d already been on the internet before it arrived and checked out a few videos of it in use and was impressed with how it performed on screen. Now I had the chance to test it myself.

The CG-Lock, according to their own website ‘is the first consumer automotive product that dramatically improves driver control conveniently and inexpensively. The ingeniously engineered device easily attaches to the tongue of an existing automotive-type seat belt to provide improves driver control and greater comfort’.

So let’s have a look at this thing then eh! Attaching it to my seat belt took about what they say it takes, around 5 minutes or so. It’s not difficult either and I didn’t have even the slightest urge to throw it through the side window in frustration. That’s always a good start.

It did take a few days to get used to but after a while, you won’t even notice it’s there. You can still lean forwards to adjust your radio or grab things from the glove box etc, so it’s not intrusive at all into your every-day driving habits. After a week or so I did start noticing a good thing about it though. Something that other CG-Lock users have also claimed. I had a car crash a few years ago and as a result my back hurts after driving any distance. Happily though, the CG-Lock seems to be doing wonders for that, as it’s now rare that I get back ache while driving with the device attached. I’m not saying it’s a cure for back trouble, but it definitely helps.

Onto the usefulness of the CG-Lock. I have a 4×4. These things aren’t exactly sports cars and do ‘wallow’ quite a bit when ‘pressing on’ around the bends. I used to get thrown around in my seat and slide about, but this useful little device has stopped that now. It was the same situation when I went off-roading. Bouncing about all over the place, it can be tiring trying to hold yourself in place, mainly by using the steering wheel. But again, the CG-Lock impressed me massively by keeping me firmly in place. I’ve no doubt that it works as well in sports cars too, as it does give you more confidence to push on around corners quicker than without one.

Overall, it’s easily worth the £49 cost and I couldn’t fault it. It’s well build, sturdy and does what it says it will do. Buy one and you won’t be disappointed at all!”

“Mitsubishi Lancer Register” Official Magazine (October 2006)

Mitsubishi Lancer Register - Official Magazine (October 2006)

“The CG-Lock basically fixes the lap portion of your normal everyday seat belt, and it secures your lower half from the waist down into your seat, and depending on the tension you want it stops your lower body from moving, at all.”

“On track, or in this case the Nurburgring, you need to be strapped in, and tight!! Well the CG-Lock is brilliant!! Pulling the belt nice and tight before you set off, really pulls you back into your seat, and leaves you full control of your arms and legs where you are able to make quicker and more precise reactions as these extremities are now lighter and free on the controls, and importantly not bracing you.”

You are kept in the same driving position all the time and in my honest opinion my driving has improved since I forked out the ‘group buy’ price of £35.00. What a bargain for something that works so well.”
